About

 

After completing my second year of an Engineering degree and completing a Diploma of Information Technology, I realized my true passion lay in working with my hands.

 

I completed a Carpentry apprenticeship in 2008, a Certificate 4 in Building and Construction in 2010 and obtained my Domestic Builders Registration in 2011.  I now have over 15 years’ experience in residential renovations. My business specialises in small to medium scale renovation projects in the South Eastern suburbs, and I pride myself on delivering a quality product for my clients.

 

I self perform much of the work on site, allowing me more control over timelines, quality and outcomes.

Regarding:

The renovation of an attached Edwardian property in St. Kilda East

 

It is with great pleasure that I provide this reference for  Sam and Strawco Developments.

Sam was working on my renovation project from Late 2018 through to early 2020 with several short hiatus through the process which were initiated by me. He will continue to be my preferred builder for all building work in the future.

 

Sam came highly recommended to me through another trades person and from the first I could see that he was worthy of this high regard.

He was always on site on time and always there on the days that he advised he would be.

He was methodical and neat when setting up each task, and always left the site tidy at the end of the day.

His breadth of knowledge regarding the technical aspects of building are exemplary and he has a great capacity for problem solving and lateral thinking.

Sam’s  responsibilities were broad ranging, he was extremely hands on with all aspects of the building process; his focus on wall set outs in the bathroom to avoid cut tiles is one example of his dedication to an extraordinary outcome.

He is not necessarily the fastest builder, however this is because he is meticulous about process and the end result. At no point have I had to defect his work.

The decision to renovate does not happen without certain anxiety around cost and budget.

Sam was open and upfront about all costs. All variations to the building price were instigated by changes that I made and were signed off and agreed before any work was carried out.

Considering the type of renovation and the age of the property I was delighted by how few increases to the budget there were.

 

It is with absolute enthusiasm that I recommend Sam as a builder and it is with out hesitation that I continue to use him on further building works at my property.
